You’re trying to recruit a downline into your program, you’ve tried every trick in the book, and no one is signing up. Is there a sign on your back that says you’ve got the plague? Maybe you’re lacking in internet etiquette.

Certain people skills are important for all business people. Online affiliate business presents unique challenges to the webmaster. While modern society tends towards individualism to the extreme, no consideration for others, and oftentimes total lack of self-restraint, internet relationships additionally have the mixed reputation of being cold and emotionless, depersonalized, fake, extreme (as in “flaming”), and untrustworthy until proven trustworthy.

Add to this skepticism towards commercialism both on and offline (”what’s he trying to sell me? what’s the catch?”) and you can understand the importance of learning internet ettiquette for business success. I’ll give you 8 points to keep in mind.

1. Thoughtful attention:

Most internet communication is via the written word. For example, I can tell you that a website is really cool; maybe you’re first impression is that I’m saying I like it because it’s hip and trendy. In the context of a discussion of website color palettes I may be referring to the shades of blue and gray used. Or maybe I mean the site doesn’t draw the visitors…you see my point. Clarity is important.

2. Taking the time for clarity:

The internet has accustomed us to instant gratification. Just as you may not stick around if a website takes more than 10 seconds to load, or if a webmaster takes more than 30 seconds to make his point, you may not take the time to clarify what’s been said in an email or chat and become angry or impatient. It’s important to understand intentions. Be careful to separate your own emotional reaction from what was actually meant. Be sure you understand that the intention was to poke friendly fun, not to criticize, and so on.

3. Timely communication:

Understand the customers’ or colleagues’ expectations and needs, and be considerate of how and when you communicate. Remember that people need to be remembered, recognized and included.

4. Create a culture of caring:

As I stated above, we live in a world of lack of consideration. Think about how careless we can become with our language when we rely on eye contact and body language to communicate our meaning. These are absent on the internet. We have to consciously create a culture of caring. Everyone needs to feel safe, connected and important. Building trust allows everyone to ask questions, which is the only way to learn, even when they risk appearing stupid.

5. Be the Super Affiliate you want in your downline:

Express your goals, accept responsibility for your words, remember that we are all teachers, be visible (in forums, in your blog, with personal notes and changes in your website text, updates and newsletters). Be honest and genuine, listen well, be generous and helpful, be clear in expressing what you need, give thanks and stay in touch.

6. Help others achieve their goals: Refer your customers elsewhere when appropriate, this builds trust like no other action can. This can even lead to reciprocity from your competition or a joint venture.

7. Find common ground: remember you are building friendships and teamwork as well as making money.

8. Remember, you are your team’s greatest advocate. If you’ve learned the above skills well, you know your teammates and can come to their aid and defense if need be. You’re there when they need you, and their testimonials grace your homepage.

If you allow yourself to grow and change in these 8 ways and apply them to your internet communications, you’ll be successful at building trust and rapport with your online colleagues. They’ll be scrambling to sign up and they’ll want to stick around.

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising is one of the most cost effective (and just plain effective) ways to get laser-targeted traffic to your website. For just pennies per click you can have your offer placed in front of only those people who are truly interested in what you have to offer.

There is a problem with PPC however. Return On Investment (ROI) can be quite low if your ad campaigns aren’t designed properly. In a nutshell, you need to make sure that enough people who click on your ad make a purchase to allow you to end up with a healthy overall profit!

Here are a few tips for maximizing the effectiveness of your PPC ad campaigns:

1 - Write clear and concise ad copy that tells the potential customers EXACTLY what they will find after the link is clicked. Since you have to pay cash for each and every click, you want to limit the clicks to those people who are truly interested in what you’re offering!

2 - Be creative with the keywords but be precise in the ad copy. While you want the ad copy to be very precise in describing your offer, you want as many people as possible to see the ad in the first place.

Using several variations of the wording in your key phrases and synonyms for your keywords you can ensure that your ad will be displayed for a wide variety of search terms. Then your laser-targeted ad copy will “weed out” those who just aren’t interested in your particular offer.

3 - Link the ad to the EXACT landing page of the offer described in the ad, NEVER to your home page. If your prospects have to search for a link to the offer, they simply won’t do it in most cases. The web is all about instant gratification, and the “back button” is used extensively when people click on a link only to find something that wasn’t described in the ad.

4 - Test, test, and then test some more! The key to maximizing the ROI of any ad campaign is testing, and PPC is no different. Set up test campaigns using various keywords/phrases and different ad copy. Analyze the results after a few days, and then drop the ads that perform poorly and expand the ones that do well.

5 - Experiment with the bid prices for your keywords. For example, you might well find that a bid of $0.35 results in almost as many clicks (and customers) as a bid of $0.55! This means you save 20 cents on each and every click! Remember, your ad doesn’t have to be displayed in the top position for it to be effective.

It is easy to have style. Find how you interpret the world and stick to it. It may take time but we can get labled with a style sooner or later. It is not always stylish to be easy. People want to know we have suffered on their behalf. No gift is as appreciated as the one found in the 11th hour after a personal quest into Mount Doom or the local strip mall which is just as hazardous. Well who has time for that anymore? Let’s not get started on the price of gas either. Find your unique baby gift with ease and style. It’s simple, here’s how.

Unique Baby Gifts are the present that can have an impact on the future of another life. Whether the Unique Baby Gift is for the child or the mother, it will help both regardless. Unique Baby Gifts can raise the awareness of a newborn such as a mom-baby learning activity or educational game to stimulate that new baby grey matter. You can also gift a Unique Baby Gift in the form of a case of diapers for the parents. Think of all the worry free hours you can provide with a case of baby diapers. More time for mom-baby. That always means better bonding between mom and baby. Unique Baby Gifts can also be some of the modern electronic advances. Once there was a baby monitor that monitored the baby in there room and occasionally picked up the local police and emergency band. Now we have full baby digital and video monitoring. There are many ways to show our love and support for the new mom and baby. In this busy world, if we can’t be there to lend a hand maybe we can give the gift of convenience. Unique Baby Gifts have changed but the intent has not. We just want to make a contribution to this new life born and the new life the parent is starting. To find your perfect baby gift CLICK HERE and go to Shodega.com. Have the gift shipped to your door and stay away from the Mount Doom Strip Mall.

Finding Romantic Gifts for someone you care about is a decision of a lifetime. If the relationship is young the gift must say something about the receiver. If the relationship is more mature, the romantic gift must address your relationship with your romantic interest. Some of the romantic gift standards are jewelry, apparel and fragrances. Modern romantic gifts can be anything from housewares, kitchenware and sports memorabilia. We always struggle to get the best romantic gift for a loved one but the best romantic gift is one from the heart. The best romantic gift may very well be a new swimsuit or opulent fragrance but the best romantic gift may also be an electronic dictionary or leather vest. A romantic gift is from the heart and meant to tell the other person how we feel. We want everything to be perfect before handing the romantic gift over. Give the gift that “rocks their world.” Giving gifts which are natural and practical say a great deal about how you see your intended. Giving gifts which are opulent and lavish can speak to the heart of love to say “You are worth it all.” How better to say “I care” then with a spontaneous romantic gift that the other person will never forget in a million years.

The answer is: no one knows. Many self-styled “gurus” and “pundits” - authors of voluminous tomes they sell to the gullible - pretend to know. But their “expertise” is an admixture of guesswork, superstitions, anecdotal “evidence” and hearsay. The sad truth is that no methodical, long term, and systematic research has been attempted in the nascent field of e-publishing and, more broadly, digital content on the Web. So, no one knows to say for sure whether free content sells, when, or how.

There are two schools - apparently equally informed by the dearth of hard data. One is the “viral school”. Its vocal proponents claim that the dissemination of free content fuels sales by creating “buzz” (word of mouth marketing driven by influential communicators). The “intellectual property” school roughly says that free content cannibalizes paid content mainly because it conditions potential consumers to expect free information. Free content also often serves as a substitute (imperfect but sufficient) to paid content.

Experience - though patchy - confusingly seems to points both ways. Views and prejudices tend to converge around this consensus: whether free content sells or not depends on a few variables. They are:

The nature of the information. People are generally willing to pay for specific or customized information, tailored to their idiosyncratic needs, provided in a timely manner, and by authorities in the field. The more general and “featureless” the information, the more reluctant people are to dip into their pockets (probably because there are many free substitutes).

The nature of the audience. The more targeted the information, the more it caters to the needs of a unique, or specific group, the more often it has to be updated (”maintained”), the less indiscriminately applicable it is, and especially if it deals with money, health, sex, or relationships - the more valuable it is and the more people are willing to pay for it. The less computer savvy users - unable to find free alternatives - are more willing to pay.

Time dependent parameters. The more the content is linked to “hot” topics, “burning” issues, trends, fads, buzzwords, and “developments” - the more likely it is to sell regardless of the availability of free alternatives.

The “U” curve. People pay for content if the free information available to them is either (a) insufficient or (b) overwhelming. People will buy a book if the author’s Web site provides only a few tantalizing excerpts. But they are equally likely to buy the book if its entire full text content is available online and overwhelms them. Packaged and indexed information carries a premium over the same information in bulk. Consumer willingness to pay for content seems to decline if the amount of content provided falls between these two extremes. They feel sated and the need to acquire further information vanishes. Additionally, free content must really be free. People resent having to pay for free content, even if the currency is their personal data.

Frills and bonuses. There seems to be a weak, albeit positive link between willingness to pay for content and “members only” or “buyers only” frills, free add-ons, bonuses, and free maintenance. Free subscriptions, discount vouchers for additional products, volume discounts, add-on, or “piggyback” products - all seem to encourage sales. Qualitative free content is often perceived by consumers to be a BONUS - hence its enhancing effect on sales.

Credibility. The credibility and positive track record of both content creator and vendor are crucial factors. This is where testimonials and reviews come in. But their effect is particularly strong if the potential consumer finds himself in agreement with them. In other words, the motivating effect of a testimonial or a review is amplified when the customer can actually browse the content and form his or her own opinion. Free content encourages a latent dialog between the potential consumer and actual consumers (through their reviews and testimonials).

Money back warranties or guarantees. These are really forms of free content. The consumer is safe in the knowledge that he can always return the already consumed content and get his money back. In other words, it is the consumer who decides whether to transform the content from free to paid by not exercising the money back guarantee.

Relative pricing. Information available on the Web is assumed to be inherently inferior and consumers expect pricing to reflect this “fact”. Free content is perceived to be even more shoddy. The coupling of free (”cheap”, “gimcrack”) content with paid content serves to enhance the RELATIVE VALUE of the paid content (and the price people are willing to pay for it). It is like pairing a medium height person with a midget - the former would look taller by comparison.

Price rigidity. Free content reduces the price elasticity of paid content. Normally, the cheaper the content - the more it sells. But the availability of free content alters this simple function. Paid content cannot be too cheap or it will come to resemble the free alternative (”shoddy”, “dubious”). But free content is also a substitute (however partial and imperfect) to paid content. Thus, paid content cannot be priced too high - or people will prefer the free alternative. Free content, in other words, limits both the downside and the upside of the price of paid content.

There are many other factors which determine the interaction of free and paid content. Culture plays an important role as do the law and technology. But as long as the field is not subject to a research agenda the best we can do is observe, collate - and guess.

This article is, of course, free content…:o))

APPENDIX - Types of Free Content

The experiment of online content is in its infancy. Content creators, providers and aggregators fall into seven categories, though hybrids and permutations abound:

I. Entirely Free Content

Unrestricted access to the entire body of content available through a central URL or database.

II. Registration Required

Access to the entire body of content available through a central URL or database conditioned on providing a few personal data and being assigned - or choosing - a user ID and password. But, subject to registration, the content is entirely free, as in (I).

III. Time Limited Free Content - New but not Archived

Unrestricted but time-limited access to some content available through a central URL or database. Access to new material is free and unrestricted. Access to archived material requires a subscription.

IV. Time Limited Free Content - Archived but not New

Unrestricted but time-limited access to some content available through a central URL or database. Access to archived material is free and unrestricted. Access to new material requires a subscription.

V. Time Limited Free Content - Rotation

Unrestricted but time-limited access to some content available through a central URL or database. Various parts of the Web site (desks, chapters, features, articles, stories, sections, etc.) become accessible at different times. Access is rotated between these sections periodically or thematically or arbitrarily.

VI. Teaser Content

Unrestricted - time unlimited or time limited - access to some content (selected articles, headlines only, etc.) available through a central URL or database. Access to the rest of the content requires a subscription.

VII. Subscription

Access to content subject to paid subscription or payment per item.

If you are thinking of taking an unusual vacation, then here is
an article you may find of interest. You will never be able to
travel in outer space but everyone can see what distant planets
and asteroids look like when they discover a meteorite.
Meteorites are the windows of space travelers right here on
earth. Find your own meteorite and help identify the history of
the universe.

There are all kinds of trips and vacations that you can go on.
Trips don’t have to be formal. They can be a random walk thru
the countryside or a walk thru a park. Now how about a new
twist. Go hunt for space junk, meteorites , or indian artifacts.
Each year ten of thousands of meteorites hit the earth. They are
worth big dollars to the finders. In fact they are worth more
than gold. You might say they are black gold. This is your
chance to find one. You also will be able to say that you have
entered the Twilight Zone.

Did you ever go on a strange vacation? Well this one is out of
this world. When you come to Truth or Consequences to see the
new space station that will launch tourists into space, do a
little walking to find space junk…meteorites on our ranch.
Hunting for meteorites does not have to be a bone chilling
adventure to the Antarctic where the temperature is 50 below
zero F and 50 mile per hour winds. Meteors enter the earth
atmosphere everywhere. They impact everywhere. The trick in
finding them is to look where they have had a good chance of
impacting or where they have been concentrated by natural forces
of the earth and HAVE NOT BEEN DESTROYED BY WEATHERING. This
means deserts are a good place to search for meteorites. Deserts
can change over the centuries. But deserts don’t alway have
major weathering. Thus if you want to find meteorites you may
want to come to our Truth or Consequences Ranch. It is located
in New Mexico adjacent to the Chihuahuan Desert. There are
trillions and trillions of terrestrial rocks for each meteorite
that could be in this area. Metal detectors are used by many
professional meteorite hunters around the world. Metal detectors
can easily distinguish between ferrous and non ferrous rocks.
Since not all meteorites are ferrous only the ferrous meteorites
will be found by the metal detector. Modern metal detectors can
balance out dominant background rocks. This inhances the
detector to find the meteorites. Metal detectors creat a
constant hum. The volume and pitch of this hum increases as the
detector passes over the metallic object. There are hot rocks
which produces a signal but is a false positive. Thus detecting
requires concentration and you will see lots and lots of hot
rocks. You must also keep a visual eye for other interesting
rocks which can be meteorites. It seems that the best way to
find meteorites from this area is to use a combination of metal
detecting and good old-fashioned shoe-leather foot searching.
The weather is not hard to predict for the Truth or Consequences
area. Don’t bother to bring a rain coat, it only rains 10″ per
year. The winters are mild as it is Southern New Mexico. It
could get to 10F, but not for many days of the year. A clear sky
with a gentle breeze is the norm as you explore and help unlock
far distant planets and inter - galactic space debris deposited
on earth.

It is that time of the year again, when hearts are filled with joy. It is the time to rejoice and the time to cherish. It is the time to give and the time to share. It is holiday time! And what better way is there to rejoice and cherish than to give gifts to friends and loved ones.

Holiday season brings joy so abundant that only a bounteous gift basket can express it. Holiday gift baskets can say it like nothing else can. Every holiday brings a special flavor, a special mood. There are little things, little joys associated with each holiday. And there is a special gift basket for each holiday that can bring out the essence of the season. A fall harvest gift basket is filled with chocolate covered dried fruits, roasted nuts and dried fruit and cookies. It is so redolent of all the aromas of the season and will bring back sweet memories. A basket of fresh flowers or sweet-smelling fruits will be well received on any holiday. A picnic gift basket or a movie gift basket (with videos, popcorn and drinks) can be a wonderful way for loved ones to enjoy a holiday. Just get into the holiday mood and select the perfect gift basket and carefully pick each gift to go in the basket.

For moms or for dads, for kids or for grandparents, for friends or for co-workers or for the whole family, holiday gift baskets will double the joy of the celebration.

A holiday gift basket can give a feel of the festivities to those who are away from home. It can convey the love if one can’t be there in person. So, celebrate with a holiday gift basket no matter what the holiday!

Gift Baskets provides detailed information about gift baskets, Christmas gift baskets, corporate gift baskets, and more. Gift Baskets is affiliated with Unique Gifts For Women.
